We wanted to add solar somewhere and we looked on the shop and that didn’t work and then we were going to add it to the house….and that wasn’t going to work. Our roof needed to be replaced so that didn’t make sense to put solar panels on top of a bad roof. And then I’m not sure how we found Tesla Solar Roof, but then we googled it and Weddle and Sons came up immediately so we called them, they came out, and looked and said “You actually have a really good candidate for Solar Roof! Its got long expanses and the right exposures on two of the faces.” So, we got to work!

Hey everyone, it was awesome to work with Mark and Jen on their home near Loveland, CO. We had a great time on this project and even completed this Solar Roof Installation in one day! We’re proud of our team and the hard work they put in to getting this one done in record time.

It’s exciting! There’s a large crew and they were…..the one’s I talked to….which was a number of them….are just really excited to do this project. So, when they’re excited, I’m excited. Yeah, and Mark has sent me some pictures from earlier in the day and so it was great to see how it actually looks on our house and with the trim color it really stood out. And its been exciting and I think that’s another part of working with Weddle and Sons is that they’ve been great communicators but they’re so excited about this project that its that excitement that really kind of carries everyone forward. And, I’m a humane educator so I work at an elementary school with kids and talking about the environment and how we can help the environment and so this was a fabulous thing to happen so that I could share that with my students.

So, Mark and Jen’s house is perfect for Solar Roof, and here’s why. They have a large enough roof that we can accommodate a 12kW system to increase their solar capturing potential. The faces of the roof are low sloping and have great exposure to the south. This is perfect for capturing solar energy even in the winter. And, the roof is not too complex and not too steep. This helps a lot with installation and how the roof is angled to the sun.

I’m not usually an early adopter but there’s been a number of these put in in other parts of the country, and so, I’m excited. I’m a little more accepting of risk so he’s kind of had to hold me back a little bit. I’m really excited to be the early adopters here in Larimer County and very much hope that this is just a piece that other people can see and think about for their own homes.
