It came to the surprise of many when we announced in 2020 that we would begin to include Tesla solar roofs as part of our portfolio of services. We have had clients and professional connections alike ask us why we decided to take the leap into becoming certified Tesla solar roof installers.
Below, you'll find our story of how we took an interest in emerging technology and transformed it into a relationship that Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, called "a great collaboration for accelerating Tesla roof installations."
Our First Tesla Solar Roof Install
Our first step to becoming certified Tesla solar roof installers began with the interest of our president, Allyn Weddle. Weddle has had an interest in solar technology for years, and when he saw that Tesla was going to begin offering their own solar roof products, he saw an opportunity to combine his personal interest with his company's work.
Weddle connected with Tesla at the 2020 International Roofing Expo in Dallas, TX, where he was able to learn about Tesla's new (at the time) certified installer program. Weddle and Sons was one of the first companies to participate in the program, and what we learned cemented our interest in partnering with Tesla.
However, before we could confidently take the Tesla Solar Roof system to our customers, we had to know for sure that it met our standards of quality. Our first Tesla Solar Roof install was on Allyn’s own house! After seeing Solar Roof firsthand, we knew it was a product we could proudly offer without reservation.

The Future of Tesla Solar Roofs and Weddle and Sons
We have been offering Tesla Solar Roof for a little more than a year, but we have already made enormous strides in not only growing our relationship with Tesla, but also improving the service for our customers. We currently have two dedicated teams of Tesla Solar Roof installers, and we regularly collaborate with Tesla on continuous improvements to the product and installation experience.
