It came as a surprise to many when we announced in 2020 that we would begin to include Tesla Solar Roof as part of our portfolio of services. Clients and professional connections alike have asked us why we decided to take the leap into becoming certified Tesla Solar Roof installers.
Below you will find our story of how we took an interest in emerging technology and turned it into a relationship that Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, called "a great collaboration for accelerating Tesla roof installations."
Our first Tesla Solar Roof install
Our first step toward becoming certified Tesla Solar Roof installers began with the interest of our president, Allyn Weddle. Allyn has had an interest in solar technology for years, and when he saw that Tesla was going to begin offering their own solar roof products, he saw an opportunity to combine that personal interest with the company's work.
Allyn connected with Tesla at the 2020 International Roofing Expo in Dallas, Texas, where he was able to learn about Tesla's new certified installer program. Weddle & Sons was one of the first companies to participate, and what we learned cemented our interest in partnering with Tesla.
However, before we could confidently take the Tesla Solar Roof system to our customers, we had to know for sure that it met our standards of quality. Our first Tesla Solar Roof install was on Allyn's own house. After seeing Solar Roof firsthand, we knew it was a product we could proudly offer without reservation.

Since we started offering Tesla Solar Roof, we have made enormous strides in growing our relationship with Tesla and improving the service for our customers.
